Bypass Doors and Bypass Hardware
Bypass Door Systems
Overview
Bypass doors typically consist of two panels that slide past each other within the same opening. Because fewer doors are used compared to bifold systems of the same width, each panel is generally wider.
-
Example: A 6-foot opening typically uses two 3-foot (36") doors
In custom applications, three or more doors can also be used.
Sizing Considerations
Proper sizing is important for smooth operation and adequate door overlap.
-
Openings may need to be slightly undersized to allow proper overlap between panels
-
Alternatively, one door can be made wider to achieve the desired fit
Example:
-
A 5-foot opening may use a 30" or 32" door, depending on layout and installation requirements
