How To Choose Your Pocket Door Frame Kit

Here is a step-by-step list to assist people who are considering installing a new pocket door frame kit but they aren't sure where to begin or how to figure out what the best kit would be to use.

Step 1: Single or Double Pocket Door


What Type of Pocket Door are you installing?


1. Single Pocket Door ( 1- Door )


2. Double Converging Pocket Door ( 2- Doors )


This matters because Double Kits require Two (2 ) Single Frame Kits plus the converging door hardware. The Converging Door hardware joins Two Single Pocket Door Frame Kits to make a Double Door Kit.



Step 2: Wall Construction


What wall Thickness are you building into?


1. 2 x 4 Wall


2 2 x 6 Wall



Step 3: Door Size


What is your Actual Door Size? Note: Choose the Actual Doors Size, not the rough opening size


Door Width: 18”, 24”, 28”, 30”, 32”, 34”, 36, 42” and 48”


Door Height: 80”, 84” and 96”


Note: For a Double Pocket Door System- measure the Width and Height of each door



Step 4: Stud Package


Do you want Standard Studs or Extra Studs for wall Support?


1. Standard Steel Stud Kit


2. Extras Strong Steel Studs for added Wall Stability






Step 4: Operating Hardware


How do you want the door to Operate?


1. Standard 4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers ( 2 included)


2. Standard 4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers ( 2 included ) WITH a EZ Closer


3. One 4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers WITH a Soft Close


4. One 4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers WITH a Soft Open


5. One 4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers WITH A Soft Close and a EZ Closer


6. Soft Close and Soft Open


**Below are the weight limits for each Option:


EZ Closer- Up to 170 lb Doors


Soft Close and Soft Open – Up to 220 lb Doors


4- Wheel Ball Bearing Hangers- Up to 250 lb Doors



Step 5: Add-on Accessories


After you completed the above information, these are optional accessories:


1. POCKET DOOR PULLS: Choose either:

A. Passage- ( Non-Locking )- You can use a Passage Pocket Door Pull for Doors you do not want locked. Such as:   Closet Doors,  Basement Doors, and any other room you do not want locked.


B. Privacy- ( Locking ) You can use a Privacy  Pocket Door Pull for Doors you  want to Lock.  Such as:   Bathrooms, Bedrooms and any other room you want lock.



2. EDGE PULL- Edge Pulls are mounted on the edge of the door and allow you to pull the door out from the wall pocket into your door opening.  Works well when paired with Flush Pulls to be able to move your pocket door around when you don't have a need for the door to lock. *Allows you to pull the door out of the pocket


3. FLUSH PULLS:


A. Available in: Rectangular Flush Pulls or Round Flush Cup Pull- Installed into the door so they sit flush with the surface. These both are installed into a cut-out hole so it is flushed with the surface of the door.
